She is an incredible artist. Thank you for choosing to post her! I've never told her this, Martha Erlebacher was very inspiring to me when I was a young sculptor and mother. She was raising children and continued painting the whole time. Knowing that someone could do this helped me to breathe and have some faith in possibilities. When the anxiety level in my head got too high from diapers and kiddie classes, I thought of her. She proved to me that it could be done. That it was possible to still hold onto myself as an artist and also love a natural part of life-- being a mother. She is an amazing artist, has amazing sons and I'm sure is and has been a beacon for many of us. I also really love that she is no pushover. What a great role model for all of us!
What a beautiful homage!Nicely written :) I wonder if there are any interviews with her talking about being a mother and an artist. I sure would like to read about it since the thought of having children does seem to post a grand competition to my art practice.
Her hands look powerful...she probably cares well for her children and her land. Very lovely painting.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and strong!
